IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus: Admission Process
There are two ways to gain admission to IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi:
- Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) 2024: This entrance exam will be held on June 23rd, 2024, in various cities across UAE. It will test your knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- JEE (Advanced) 2024: You can also apply through the prestigious JEE (Advanced) entrance exam.

All applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Performance (Criterion 1):
- Achieve a minimum aggregate of 75% marks (or equivalent) in your Class/Grade XII (or equivalent) Board Exams.
Or
- Secure a position within the top 20 percentile of your Class/Grade XII (or equivalent) Board Exams.
- Age Limit (Criterion 2):
- Be born on or after October 1, 1999 (with potential two-year relaxation for UAE Nationals as per their national policy).
- Attempts (Criterion 3):
- Have a maximum of two attempts in consecutive years.
- Exam Appearance (Criterion 4):
- Appear for your Class/Grade XII (or equivalent) exams for the first time in either the current year (2024) or the previous year (2023).
- Previous Admissions (Criterion 5):
- Not have been previously admitted to any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), regardless of continuation or seat acceptance/vacancy.
Additional Notes:
- Indian nationals who are wards of UAE residents living in UAE for at least past five years and have completed their class X to XII standard of schooling in the UAE.
- Other than UAE and Indian Nationals. Also, candidates who have secured OCI/PIO card on or after 04.03.2021 shall be considered as international students.
- For calculating aggregate marks and percentile cut-offs, scores from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and one other subject are considered.
- UAE Nationals who served a one-year compulsory military service with valid certification receive a one-year age relaxation.

Seat Allocation
The seat allocation for IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will be through a separate portal (which will be made available at https://abudhabi.iitd.ac.in) following two different modes:
- Mode (1): Based on your rank in the CAET 2024 exam.
- Mode (2): Based on your rank in the JEE (Advanced) 2024 exam.
Seat Distribution (Proposed):
- 1/3rd: UAE Nationals
- 1/3rd: UAE Residents/International Students
- 1/3rd: Through JEE (Advanced) 2024

CAET 2024: All You Need to Know
CAET stands for Common Admission Entrance Test. It’s an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) Abu Dhabi Campus for admission to their undergraduate engineering programs.
- Selection Criteria:
- Eligibility Exam: Applicants residing in UAE must have a valid score in either EmSAT or SAT with minimum scores in the Mathematics section:
- EmSAT: Minimum score of 1150 (out of 2000)
- SAT: Minimum score of 700 (out of 800)
- Class XII Marks: A minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Class XII (or equivalent) Board exam OR rank in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. You can find more details on this on the official website .
- Exam Date and Time: The CAET will be conducted on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, across various locations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, etc. (exact details will be available during registration).

Test Format:
- The test will be conducted in English.
- It will consist of three separate 90-minute papers: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Paper timings:
- Physics (8:30 AM – 10:00 AM)
- Chemistry (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM)
- Mathematics (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM)
- Appearing for all three papers is mandatory.

Mode of CAET 2024:
The CAET 2024 would be non-computer (pen-paper) based and the responses to be marked on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet provided to the candidate.
Registration Fee : Applicants have to pay 300 AED as a one-time registration fee for CAET 2024
The question papers for the CAET exam:
- Testing Subject Knowledge: The questions will be designed to assess your understanding of the core concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Following Instructions: Carefully read and follow all the instructions provided in the question paper during the exam. These instructions will guide you on how to answer the questions, marking schemes, and any specific requirements.
- Language: The question papers will be provided only in English. Make sure you are comfortable comprehending technical concepts in English.
- Handling Errors: The organizers will strive to ensure there are no mistakes in the question papers. However, if any question needs to be dropped due to errors, all candidates will be awarded full marks for that specific question.
Preferences for PoD Candidates
Persons with disabilities (PoD) taking CAET can get extra time (30 minutes per paper) and a scribe to assist them during the exam. To qualify, you’ll need a valid certificate from a UAE government medical authority and request the scribe service during online registration. The scribe can only read questions and mark your answers as instructed, not explain concepts or suggest solutions. A panel of scribes will be provided for you to choose from one day before the exam.
